Community Firing Services
We accept work from members of the community for bisque and glaze firing.
Community members interested in having their work fired at Arbutus Folk School should be aware that our students’ work always takes precedence in kiln space, and we cannot meet requests for firing services on a deadline.
Our firings are to cone 6. Payment is required at drop-off – cash, credit, and check accepted.
Firing Fees:
- By the Square Foot: $6 per firing
- Full Kiln: $90 per firing
All work dropped off for firing must be labeled with name, date, and type of clay. Work may not include any combustible materials (e.g. wood, newspaper) and must not be solid or extremely thick. Work must be removed from containers and placed on Arbutus Folk School ware boards. Any packaging or containers you leave in the studio will be discarded.
Ceramic ware may be dropped during Open Studio hours listed below. Please check-in with our Studio Manager, Elizabeth Mauro, when you arrive and they’ll help you out.
- Sundays: 9am-3pm
- Mondays: 6-9pm
- Thursdays: 2-5pm
Expect firing to be completed within 2 weeks. All work must be picked up within 6 weeks of drop-off. If you need an extension, you can email studio@arbutusfolkschool.org or call 360-350-0187. If your work is not picked up within 6 weeks of drop-off or you have not made alternate arrangements with our staff, your work will be discarded.
If your work damages our kiln shelves, we will ask you to reimburse our purchase of a replacement.
