Partnerships and Special Programs
Arbutus Folk School partners with local agencies and nonprofits to offer hands-on art experiences for their clients and residents. For example, residents of a subsidized housing community can make art together in their rec room, or clients of a refugee-resettlement program can sculpt clay in our studio while building community. Contributions by the participating agencies, community donations, sponsorships, and grants make these special programs possible, and ensure greater access to the arts for all.
Public funding through Inspire Olympia has allowed us to subsidize the cost of partner workshops to a much greater extent than ever before! This funding makes programming more accessible to partnering agencies by supporting the costs of artist time and materials.
Sample classes currently available to partners include ceramics, needle felting, knitting, and other crafts. If your clients are not able to attend a workshop on-site in our facilities, we will match you with programs that will work well in your own facilities.
Sample partners could include local libraries, social service agencies, youth-serving organizations, and other not-for-profit enterprises with a network or group of clients.
If your agency is interested in partnering for a workshop, please email us at info@arbutusfolkschool.org to learn more.
